After five successful postgraduate enrollment periods, on the morning of September 13, 2025, the Sustainable Finance Institute hosted the Welcome Ceremony for the very first undergraduate students of the Corporate Sustainability and Environmental Management program – a pioneering major available exclusively at UEH.

In his remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Quang Hung – Deputy Party Secretary, Deputy Director of UEH University – affirmed that “sustainability” is a key pillar in UEH’s development strategy. He recalled that UEH was one of the pioneers in launching the Master’s program in Corporate Sustainability and Environmental Management, which has remained one of the most sought-after programs over the past five years. Responding to the urgent demands of society and global trends, UEH now officially expands this program to the undergraduate level. The collaboration between postgraduate learners and new undergraduates creates a multidimensional learning ecosystem, nurturing a generation of “sustainability creators” capable of applying knowledge and data to advise on policy and drive sustainable action in business and society.

On behalf of the Sustainable Finance Institute, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Thi Mai Hoai – Director – reminded the first undergraduate cohort that the greatest goal in life is to become kind, healthy, knowledgeable, responsible individuals who live happily each day. She emphasized that the ceremony is not just the beginning of a study program, but the start of a journey to build their own future. The Bachelor’s in Corporate Sustainability and Environmental Management is an interdisciplinary program combining management, finance, and environmental engineering, designed to equip students with solid training to meet the demand of employers and society for sustainable development. However, she stressed that outcomes depend greatly on students’ initiative in learning, practicing, and accumulating knowledge. From now on, they must set clear goals and build plans – from semester study objectives to post-graduation career pathways, and even life ambitions: who they want to become and what kind of life they want to live. These goals may evolve over time, but starting early will help them stay on track and seize opportunities proactively.

Alumni and postgraduate students from 1st to 5th enrollment period – many of whom now lead sustainability initiatives in their organizations – joined to share insights on recruitment needs, motivation, goal-setting, and planning strategies.

They also provided practical guidance on developing strong CVs from the beginning, ensuring that graduates leave the program with impressive profiles that stand out to employers.

The Q&A session was another highlight, offering new students clearer perspectives on potential career pathways.

The ceremony concluded with a warm birthday celebration for freshmen born in September and the gift of refillable bottles from the Institute, carrying the meaningful message: “Refill, Reuse, Recycle. One planet, one bottle at all times.”
