Make the world better through sustainable finance

On January 25, 2021, the UEH’s Council issued Decision no. 03 to establish the Sustainable Finance Institute (SFI). Accordingly, A/Prof. Dr. Bui Thi Mai Hoai was appointed as the director (Decision no. 179). On the occasion of an inaugural event held on Wednesday January 27, 2021, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dong Phong, President of the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) Council, on behalf of the leaders, has delivered these decisions to A/Prof. Dr. Mai Hoai.

With the establishment of SFI, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City becomes the first university in Vietnam offering training, consulting, and research on Sustainable Finance. This thus contributes to the enhancement of its leading position and improvement of the university's social trust.

The institute aims to:

  • Disseminate the fundamental knowledge on Sustainable Finance to the public;
  • Develop and contribute policy considerations on Sustainable Finance toward the UN 2030 SDGs;
  • Connect and implement Sustainable Finance projects of multilateral non-governmental organizations to support  the Vietnam Green Growth Strategy;
  • Connect with financial and sustainable development "think tanks" in the region and all over the world, thereby enriching UEH's international network;
  • Expand and strengthen the relationship between UEH and the business community;
  • Provide consulting services corresponding to the requirements of corporations, governments and local authorities;
  • Train a new generation of management and financial analysts with ESG elements as the focus;
  • Conduct research and applications on Sustainable Finance in capital investment, risk management, and the banking industry.
